His Holiness Haladhara Swami Maharaj is one of the foremost disciples of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja. Soon after joining temple as a full-time devotee, he rendered services in travelling Sankirtan party.
Sri Shrimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaj appeared on the 2nd of September in the Gaurabda year 443 (1929 A.D.) in Orissa, India. Both his parents were devotees of Krishna and Jagannath, as were their ancestors up to the time of Sri Syamananda Prabhu.
Srila Prabhupada was born Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896 to a pious Hindu family in Calcutta. As a youth growing up in British-controlled India, Abhay became involved with Mahatma Gandhi's civil disobedience movement to secure independence for his nation.
