About The Temple
ISKCON Pattamundai, located in the Kendrapara district of the state of Odisha, is an extension of the Sri Sri Radha Gopala Jiu Temple located at Gadaigiri. It was originally started as a small preaching center by Jagatatma Prabhu in the year 2010. Jagatatma Prabhu single-handedly managed the various programs of the Center for a few years. But due to some serious health problems and on the request of the regional management, he had to leave this center.
Thereafter Param Pujya Haldhar Swami Maharaj, one of the chief disciples of Shri Shrimad Gaur Govind Swami Maharaj and a GBC approved spiritual leader, took over the running of this small centre. Under the direction of Maharaj, this center has now been transformed into a wonderful Krsna-consciousness center. Within a short span of time, the most beautiful Deity, community of devotees and a Gaushala have been established here.
The center has been established under the guidance of Param Pujya Haldhar Swami Maharaj with the aim of educating people about the ancient Vaishnava culture, self-reliance, organic farming, cow protection and most importantly, a God-centred lifestyle.
Maharaj did not install any idols in the initial days because he had in his mind that if the idols of any previous Acharya would automatically come here, then he would start worshiping them. At the end of the year 2018, 'International T.B.V. The members of Mool Sthan, Chhoti Pariyojana handed over the ancestral Deity of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura “Sri Sri Radha Madhav Jiu” to Maharaja for maintaining daily service. Therefore, the ISKCON Pattamundai temple holds special significance for the devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as the special ancestral deity of Saptama Goswami, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, one of the great masters of the Gaudiya Sampradaya, the main temple altar. He adorns the world and attracts everyone with his exquisite beauty and infinite kindness. Known as 'Sri Sri Radha Madhav', this is the same beautiful Deity of the Lord for whom Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura composed the famous song 'Jai Radha-Madhav'. It is sung daily in the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sect and was very dear to Srila Prabhupada. Whenever he used to sing it, his eyes used to get filled with tears of love. Every year the intense love of the devotees takes Lord Sri Sri Radha to Sri Vrindavan Dham in the month of Kartik, where devotees from all over the world visit Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Temple to have a glimpse of the charming form of Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar.
In the year 2019, Sri Sri Gaur Nitai (Sankirtana Bas Vigraha personally installed by Sri Sri Srimad Gaur Govind Swami Maharaj) came from ISKCON Bhubaneswar to ISKCON Pattamundai to accept seva from devotees. Hence along with Sri Sri Radha Madhav, Sri Sri Gaur Nitai and Sri Sri Giriraj Govardhanji also sit on the beautiful altar of ISKCON Pattamundai Temple.
As the visitors proceed through the narrow path, enjoying the gentle breeze, they find agricultural land covered in lush greenery, an epitome of natural beauty. Climbing the steps of the temple courtyard, he sees the divine forms of the Lord, the source of all beauty. The ardent devotees chant the divine names of the Lord and dance on it. All this is really a feast for the eyes. As soon as the sound of Kartal and Mridanga enters the heart, everyone, young and old, involuntarily raises their arms to chant and dance.
All around the main temple building, the sanctity of the temple can be felt from the happy healthy Indian cows present in the cowshed. There is traditional farming, botanical garden and a pond near the temple. There is also a small guesthouse for visitors.
Thus, this center is gradually expanding continuously under the direction of Param Pujya Haldhar Goswami Maharaj. The number of devotees is also increasing continuously who are a great source of inspiration as they are continuously engaged in the service and pleasure of their lordship day after day. In simple words, every particle here portrays and inspires to be selfless in caring and serving the Supreme Lord for the pleasure of Him.
